Lakewood Villa creates the happiest day in her life

Lakewood Villa staff enables video conferencing. Mom can be there remotely

Can your assisted living home support Skype video conferences? Lakewood Villa can.

A Lakewood Villa resident recently attended a family reunion in Chicago via the Internet. Family members told us they were organizing a family reunion in Chicago and wanted their mother to attend via a video conference. Staff set up and tested Skype on a general access computer. The owner verified the Internet access could support Skype and staff learned how to use the service. The owner also told their loved one that a family reunion was approaching and she would get to see her loved ones.

On the big day, staff dolled up mom. They put on her makeup and made her feel very pretty. Staff created a Skype video conference and called Chicago. Mom sat at the computer for two hours while talking to her loved ones in Chicago. She said she felt like she was in the same room. Family members thanked us repeatedly for making this special day happen for mom.

Mom still talks about this like it was the happiest day of her life. It was a happy day for us too. We are Lakewood Villa. Call (916) 682-2867 today.
